Parker 51 Pen Set Signed Atom Bomb Provenanceexc Rare
A very rare piece of history in your hands 1940's los alamos nm trinity bomb project mr. Robert j van gemert a parker 51 fountain pen set owned by mr.
Gemert. This parker 51 fountain pen set with pencil in excellent possibly unused condition. I cannot tell if this has been used but everything seems ot be very clear (sac) and the nib and its black collector element seems clean and as brand new. Color is tauep or cocoa color, bright. Shaft states. Press 6 times. The pencil is the extractor claw push-top variety.
The pen with the cap on it is 5 3/8 in length including the jewel and teh pencil is 5 1/8 long. Minimal edsk drawer scuffs/marks.
Ww2 ushered in numerous engineers and support personnel to los alamos nm to secretly develop and test the first atom bomb and nuclear bombs thereafter. Robert j van gemert was a head of procurement during this period of ww2 and assisted in this history. He is buried with his wife at the cemetary at los alamos where numerous other luminaries from the period are buried. This auction is for the parker 51 fountain pen and pencil set, case, and teh balsa wood business card which includes on its rear his particulars in the japanese language. Re provenance i purchased this in late 2007 from a dealer who attended mr.
Robert van gemert's esatte sale at the time of his passing, in either late 1990's or 2000. I researched and contacted one of his sons, who is a dr. In colorado, who confirmed the estate sale and acknowledged the pen set was hsi fathers and that the estate sale was held as the dealer described. That dealer sold off many of the certificates and other personal effects unwanted by the family and the pen set was some of the remainign articles he was still selling when i purchased this. Both crislpy marked r. Van gemert and a fantastic addition to the a-bomb or ww2 history collector, or parker 51 collector. Note shipping will be more than $4.50 as indicated above.
